IMAGE FILTERS
Image Filters can be used individually or in combination with other filters to apply interesting effects. These filters use simple mathematical formulas for faster image rendering. Several adjustable presets are included for quick effects.

Blur% - Blur simulates out-of-focus effect to
be applied equally across your image. Blur is commonly used on the background to help contrast your sharply focused objects in the foreground.
(Blur does not display in preview)

Sharpen%
- Sharpen is an edge seeking (low-pass) detail enhancing filter that will increase the sharpness between surface colors by exaggerating the difference in color between
the two edges.

Edge Blend

Edge Blend Filter showing threshold

Edge Blend% - The Edge Blend Image Filter (formerly the antialias filter) is a softening tool that will smooth the edges between sharply contrasting surfaces. This helps to tone down the stair-step edges or jaggies found in computer graphics.

Edge Threshold allows you control over the amount of edge affected by the Edge Blend filter.

A Show Edge Threshold button has been included to  display the edge in white, or black if specified as a preference. After showing the edge threshold, you will need to deselect the Show button or the edge will be painted either white or black in the render.

The Edge Blend Filter can be used for composites simply by selecting the Alpha Edges Only preference. It can also be applied in 1,2,3 or 4 passes as a preference setting for a finer detailed blending of the edge.

Saturation% - Allows you to control the saturation of the image’s color.

Negative% - Negative gives control of the amount of negative applied to an image. 50% negative is equivalent to RGB 128/128/128.

High/Low Limit - Limits the colors in your image to levels which are NTSC compliant. Only highlights are affected.

Palette% - The Palette Filter limits the colors in your image to smaller, evenly distributed, color palettes. Palette reduction method can be specified as a preference by choosing either Average, NTSC/PAL Luminance, HDTV Luminance, Nearest Red, Nearest Green or Nearest Blue. Average is the default setting.

Several  palettes files can be selected from the drop down menu. You can also add additional Photoshop™ palettes or custom palettes to the Palette dropdown.

Palette Reduction Methods

To create your own custom palettes, simply open one of the  provided palettes in your text editor, edit the color information and Save As to the WaveFilter Image directory. The filename must be 12 or less characters in length and suffixed with a .wfp (WaveFilter Palette). Photoshop palettes can be easily

identified in the palette list by using PS as the first two characters in the filename.

Grain% - The Grain Filter adds a random noise effect of selectable density to your image. A menu preference allows you to change from luminance to colored grain and color swatches provide access to the Window’s color picker to specify grain color.

Flip Frame - The Flip Frame Filter provides easy vertical, horizontal and both vertical and horizontal combined flipping control of a frame.
