After installing and adding WaveFilter Image Plug-ins to LightWave, the filters can be applied as either a Post-Render or Pre-Render process.
Post-Render - When LightWave has finished rendering a frame, the WaveFilter interface will pop-up to allow you to make further adjustments using a preview of the rendered image. This is the most interactive way of working with Image, allowing you to see the effects of your settings as you change them on the actual image you intend to adjust. The POST RENDER ADJUST is turned on by default.
How to apply filters as a Post-Render process: 1. In the Image Processing Plugins panel, click the OPTIONS button adjacent to the WaveFilter you wish to adjust, if using more than one.
2. Press in the POST RENDER ADJUST button located at the lower-right of the WaveFilter interface. You may set initial adjustment values now or wait until after rendering a frame.
3. Click OK.
4. Render a frame. When the frame is finished (but prior to saving the image), the WaveFilter Image interface will appear with the just-rendered frame in miniature form, in the preview window. Any adjustments you make to the WaveFilter settings (except Blur) will be reflected in the preview and applied when you click OK. See "The Preview Window" for additional notes on using this feature. Pre-Render - Once you have chosen the settings you would like to use for your scene and are ready to render, you don't want the Image interface to pop-up after every frame. Also, you may be making such simple adjustments that you don't NEED to interactively adjust the settings. Either way, it's a simple matter of turning OFF the POST RENDER ADJUST feature. The Pre-Render process is usually preferred when adding and using nulls.
How to apply filters as a Pre-Render process: 1. In the Image Processing Plugins panel, click the OPTIONS button adjacent to the WaveFilter you wish to adjust, if using more than one.
2. Click the POST RENDER ADJUST button so that it appears to pop out.
3. Click OK.
4. Render. LightWave's rendering will continue as normal, without the WaveFilter panel reappearing but with all the settings applied.
With the demo version of WaveFilter Image installed, your rendered frame will be split down the middle with only the left side being affected. To unlock the right side of your image, you will need to purchase WaveFilter 2.0 and receive an unlock code.
